Nexus Contemporary Art Center is a non-profit arts organization providing exhibit, studio, and performance space for individual artists and arts groups. The facility is located in a unique urban setting of renovated, early-to-mid-twentieth century industrial buildings. The Nexus building was originally home to a truck repair garage and warehouse. During Phase I, construction management, value engineering services, negotiated program and scope revisions services were provided to couple client needs with the available budget. Phase I received an Atlanta Urban Design Commission Award of Excellence in 1992. Phase II involved providing architectural services for the renovation and adaptive reuse of an adjacent masonry and heavy timber warehouse for artist studios. The project included design of interior finishes, lighting. Phase III, the artists working courtyard, and the entrance courtyard, received Community Development Block Grant funding.
