Langdale Mill
Valley, Alabama
Located on the banks of the Chattahoochee River, the Langdale Cotton Mill was begun in 1866 during the great southern textile revolution. The 200,000 sf complex is sited on 25-acres in downtown Valley, Alabama. The Master Plan involves rehabilitating the historically significant buildings, while removing dangerous or insignificant structures to allow for parking, greenspace and welcoming pedestrian site circulation. A mixed-use program is envisioned in the buildings including convention, hotel, retail, residential and cultural activities spaces. Because of the importance of the riverside location, outdoor recreational opportunities are also in the program. Due to the size of the complex, the development is proposed in three phases occurring over 20 years.
