Practicing what we preach, RWH renovated our own office building, which was once destined for the wrecking ball. RWH is located in a 1930's building in downtown Atlanta that we renovated in the late 90's. In 1999, we were awarded the AIA Georgia Sustainability Design Award of Merit for the renovation of our building.
In 2008, our office was awarded The Clean Air Campaign PACE Starter Award recognizing metro Atlanta's outstanding workplaces for commuters. RWH has also instituted a number of green initiatives at our office - as well as holding regularly scheduled staff brown bag lunches to discuss current sustainable building practices, new materials, and how they both are to be incorporated into our office standards. We encourage continuing education - our staff is very active in attending local and national conferences to stay abreast of the ongoing changes in sustainable design. 
Some of the sustainable practices implemented in our office include: - indoor bike storage and showers to encourage walking/biking to work - intra-office recycling including paper, plastic, aluminum cans, newspaper, glass, cardboard, and batteries - the RWH office is located within 2-3 blocks of two major MARTA stations as well as several bus transit stops - use of efficient fluorescent/compact fluorescent lighting throughout the studios, but upstairs and downstairs - low VOC (volatile organic compound) paint - providing discounts on rain barrels for use at home |
